Texts by Revueltas about the works
Windows is music without a program. Perhaps in writing this work I thought to express some clear idea or other. Now, writing it several months later, I can’t remember what that was. The name means nothing; it could be called “stars” or anything else. (It all depends on the listener’s good or bad wishes.) A window never offers a fertile literary theme to satisfy the tastes of people who can’t understand or listen to music without a program, without inventing something more or less disagreeable. Fortunately, I’m not a man of letters. I am a musician with technique and without inspiration. (Quoted in Manuel Reyes Meave, “Psicobiología de Silvestre Revueltas,” in Nuestra música 1952, 173–187.
