Notes by compiler | According to Guillermo Orta, author of Breve historia de la música en México (Mexico City: Porrúa, 1949), 8 X Radio was written for the Chamber Orchestra of the Secretariat of Public Education, founded in 1933, intended for radio performances and conducted during that year by Eduardo Hernández Moncada. There is a record of a premiere performance on October 13, 1933 at the Hidalgo Theater, with the Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Silvestre Revueltas. |
Texts by Revueltas about the works | An algebraic equation without a possible solution, without possessing profound mathematical knowledge. The author has attempted to resolve the problem through musical instruments, with moderate success, which critics knowledgeable of matters of numbers may judge with their usual equanimity. (Text included in the program for the concert conducted by the composer, in October 1933). |
